International Relief and Development (IRD) has a pleasure to inform you that lease contracts for industrial zone MEJUG were officially signed on Friday, May 18th in municipal building in Uzice.

Industrial zone MEJUG is a project aimed to improve conditions for growth of economy in Uzice region. IRD has helped with infrastructural equipment of the land identified by the municipality and business sector as an appropriate one for development of the enterpreneurship. MEJUG provides for 9 parcels with all necessary infrastructure for companies from Uzice region to expand their business. Parcels were offered through the open competition, and the sucessful bidders will enjoy the lease under very favourable conditions for the period of 99 years. Each company has an obligation to provide 5 new employments.

This project is funded by the American People, through the CRDA (Community Revitalization through Democratic Action) program. Total value of the project is $240.000. CRDA provided for $180.000, while remaining $60.000 is provided by municipality.

Mr. Tihomir Petkovic, Uzice Mayor, Mr. Jesse Bunch, IRD Chief of Party adressed the audience. Representatives of the companies that will operate within the MEJUG presented their business plans.
